The SmartStick™ is a molded plastic open “C” channel with block inserts at the stringer fastener points. The specified RFID tag is inserted and fastened to the inside of the “C” channel and covered with a tag shield. The tag shield provides protection from moisture and accidental contact. Once fitted with the tag, the SmartStick™ is attached to the pallet using nails, with the open edge of the “C” channel facing down. The tag inserted into the SmartStick™ can be read from either side or above or below the pallet. The tag can also be read by tag readers installed directly on the forklift.
